My name is Amelia Rose Whitney. I dreamed of being an artist since I was in the fifth grade. I spent every chance I could practicing my drawing and painting skills knowing that it was going to take a very long time to become good at it. I never gave up. I credit my 5th and 6th grade teacher Mrs. Boe for making me fall in love with art. All I can remember from her class was doing art projects every day and nothing else. She had the whole class reproducing Matisse paintings for practice. And she even kept a couple of mine.

Her excitement & passion for art was so inspiring. I was hooked! I took art class in school every single semester after that for the next six years. I continued my passion for art for a solid four years at Arizona State University in Tempe where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Drawing; and then I was able to spend the next two months after that studying art abroad in China. It opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibility and inspiration. It was an experience of a lifetime and it made my love of art a million times greater!

Art means everything to me. And if I’m not creating, I would be lost. I had spent the last twelve years being an art student and when I came back from that trip I was no longer one. I was definitely afraid I was going to have to get a real job and give up on being an artist. My life would have been meaningless if art wasn’t in it. Long story short, I found tattooing. And it found me! I picked up a tattoo machine and started tattooing in 2009 and knew this is what I was going to do for the rest of my life. I soon got married and we had our beautiful daughter and life happened!

I didn’t get truly serious about tattooing until two 2011 when I moved to New Jersey and had the opportunity of a lifetime to learn the right way to tattoo among some of the best artists on the east coast! I learned so much from so many different types of artists traveling from all over. As amazing as it was there, I couldn’t stay away from Arizona for too long. The sunshine was calling my name! I had to come back to my roots and I am so happy that I did. Working at Club Tattoo was a dream of mine ever since college. I believe everything happens for a reason….and I am definitely meant to be here.

My tattoos speak for themselves so…please check them out. This portfolio is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of what I know I can accomplish as a tattoo artist. If you do what you love you never have to work another day in your life.

Thank you to everyone that has helped me on my path in life. I am living the dream and I am truly grateful!
